Technical Dzongkha
The Dzongkha is designed to enhance trainees’ proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the national language. It also fosters appreciation for Bhutanese literature, traditions, and values, which are deeply embedded in the language itself. For aspiring artisans, Dzongkha is essential not only for personal and social interaction but also for engaging with religious texts, art descriptions, and historical references that are integral to the traditional crafts.
Key Objectives:
- To strengthen literacy in Dzongkha, including grammar, vocabulary, and script.
- To enable trainees to read and interpret religious and cultural texts, which inform many aspects of traditional art.
- To promote effective written and oral communication in official and workplace settings.
- To deepen cultural understanding and national pride through language.
Course Components:
- Orthography and grammar: Understanding the correct use of Dzongkha letters, sentence structure, and language rules.
- Reading comprehension: Focused on stories, poems, religious literature, and contextual texts linked to Bhutanese heritage.
- Writing exercises: Including essays, reflections, official letters, and descriptions of artwork.
- Oral communication: Class discussions, debates, and presentations in Dzongkha.
- Cultural integration: Exploring proverbs, idioms, and literary pieces that reflect Bhutanese values.
