This course focuses on Bhutanese scroll (thangka) and mural paintings, leading to National Certification Level III. Trainees will gain advanced skills in preparing painting surfaces, developing detailed compositions, and applying traditional Bhutanese iconographies with precision. Special emphasis is placed on thangka painting of sacred figures such as Tara, Buddha, and Guru Rinpoche, requiring mastery of proportion, intricate detailing, and symbolic interpretation. The curriculum also covers the preparation of natural pigments, layering techniques, and mural painting on large surfaces. Through this course, trainees are nurtured to uphold the artistic and spiritual traditions of Bhutan, contributing to the preservation, restoration, and promotion of the nation’s rich cultural heritage.
